CALPE Calpe is one of the most scenically, breathtaking and naturally diverse areas of the northern Costa Blanca and enables you to discover so much more than the stunning white sandy beaches, that make this region so highly desirable as a holiday destination. 'Peñon de Ifach', famous symbol of the Costa Blanca, located at the end of Calpe's village, is embedded into two blue flag beaches and rises 330m from the sea. The rock is now a nature park and can be visited daily on a pathway, which leads to a breathtaking panoramic view from the top, overlooking the coasts on either side of it. Calpe, the former fishing village, has a variety of activities to offer, throughout the year. The local spectacular Fiestas with it's stunning costums and programs during one week in October are always a major attraction and well visited. The old town of Calpe is particularely picturesque with it's narrow streets, museums, squares and restaurants. An Arts and Crafts Fair is held here every night (except Mondays) from July - September with frequent live street entertainment. A large Saturday market runs throughout the year. Being an old fishing village, the port still holds fish auctions every day at 5 pm and the Club Nautico organizes sailing competitions during the summer months, attracting international competitors and audience. Every September the Calpe beaches are also chosen for the Kite-Surfing competitions. Points of Interest The Jalon Valley, 15km north of Calpe, is famous for it's local wines. It also has some stunning sceneries and in February the whole valley is transformed into a mass of colour, when the groves of almond trees are in blossom. This is a great area for walking and fabulous local Restaurants. There are many leasure outdoor activities, summer and winter, in the surrounding area include rock climbing, walking, golfing, cycling, scuba diving, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, kite surfing, horse riding, quad riding etc., all within a short distance. Theme parks, ie Aqualandia (waterpark), Mundomar (Marine & exotic animal park), Terra Mitica and Go Karting are all within a 20min drive. Within a 1.5 hour drive away, the attractive city of Valencia offers many interesting places to visit, historical, cultural and architectoral sites of great importance. Since 2006 Valencia has also been awarded the location of the America's Cup and therefore attracts international visitors. The Costa Blanca boasts excellent medical care in every aspect available.
